The first documented permanent makeup treatment was done by U.K. tattoo artist Sutherland Macdonald in 1902. His technique gave a a delicate pink tint to the cheeks that lasted year round.
Permanent Makeup is a cosmetic technique where we are pigmenting the dermis layer of the skin to reproduce designs that resemble the look of makeup. Through this technique we are able to naturally enhance parts of our face, some examples are eyebrows, eyeliner, lip blush and faux freckles. The result is not “permanent” but the name given was more suggestive to your new “makeup” not washing off by the end of the day.
Gradual fading can be expected for all procedures. The color is expected to last up to 3 years depending on lifestyle and proper after-care.
Lip Blush is a Permanent Makeup technique where pigment is deposited into the skin of the lips with a machine and a 2mm needle.
This technique helps to restore the natural border of the lips that is sometimes lost with age. It can make lips appear slightly fuller and also smooth wrinkles for a more youthful appearance.
Lips are shaped and a custom color is selected by you. A numbing agent is used before & during the procedure for a comfortable experience.
The Powder Brow technique is an upgraded technique to traditional Microblading. Unlike Microblading it is suitable for all skin types & all ages.
Microblading uses a blade to cut into the skin, deposit pigment and mimic the look of hair strokes. Over time these “strokes” don’t last long, can blur and often change color.
Powder Brows use a machine and a tiny 2mm needle to deposit pigment into the skin using a light hand motion to build color. When healed it mimics the look of powdered makeup and lasts 2-3 years. This method is less invasive to the skin as well. The result’s are more predictable over time and offer a more natural look in the long run!
I personally prefer the Powder Brow method for my clients because results are more natural in the long run and it is the least invasive technique to protect the integrity of the skin in the long run.
*All Saline Removal Appointments require a virtual consult before booking*
We are proud to offer cosmetic tattoo lightening/removal using a saline solution called LI-FT. LI-FT is a safe and effective way to lighten and/or remove unwanted pigment for cosmetic tattoos. LI-FT contains High Salt Concentrate, Orange Seed Extract, Lemon Seed Extract, Aloe Vera and Sterile water. Multiple sessions may be required to lighten or completely remove previously tattooed brows.
Results will vary depending on, but not limited to, your skin condition, health profile, ability to heal well, the type and color of the pigment to be lightened, depth of pigment placement, technique used and compliance with aftercare instructions.
The timing for a tattoo lightening procedure is important. If you have special events, travel plans or work in an environment with the probability of high bacterial exposure you should choose the timing for the lightening procedure so aftercare instructions do not conflict with these activities or workplace schedules.
Darker skin or any other skin that shows signs of previous hyper or hypo pigmentation should be done with extreme caution. Hyper or hypo pigmentation is possible.
You will be required to complete a pigment lightening consent form indicating that you do, or do not have any allergies to the following ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis Extract, Citrus Medica Limonum, Calendula Officinalis, Hydroxethyl Cellulose, Sodium Benzonate, Potassium Sorbate.
Please contact me first for all cover ups and corrections since these are done on a case by case basis. Please send a message and include a picture of your eyebrows with no make-up and in good lighting.
A consent form will be sent to you prior to your appointment date!
When you arrive to your appointment we will start by taking a few before pictures and then I will map a shape depending on the service chosen. We will also choose a color that compliments your features.
Once you approve the shape/color a topical numbing agent will be applied and the procedure will begin. This agent will also be applied during the service for a comfortable experience.
Appointment time with shaping can take 2-3 hours so please plan ahead.
The brows should be shaped according to each individual’s bone structure and facial symmetry. Here at Camouflaged by Sara we use the mathematical principle of the golden ratio. This technique allows for proportion and symmetry for each client.
We carry a selection of colors for a wide variety of skin types and undertones. We will work together to choose a color that is the closest match to your brow hair and natural hair root color.
You may experience minor redness, swelling and/or bleeding during your procedure. Initially the color will appear darker but will get lighter and more natural through the healing process. You will be given after-care instructions at your initial appointment, these instructions need to be followed in order to achieve the best results for your new brows!
Every client’s results may vary. Permanent makeup can last anywhere from 1-3 years. A perfecting follow up appointment at 6-8 weeks after your initial appointment is required to achieve the best overall results. An annual maintenance appointment is recommended to refresh the color of your brows and to keep them looking vibrant!
Unfortunately you cannot have this procedure done if you are pregnant or nursing. When your baby has arrived and the nursing period is over please reach out, we would love to schedule an appointment for your new brows!
This is the most frequent question we are asked! There may be some discomfort, everyone has a different pain level and some client’s even fall asleep during the procedure. We use a topical numbing agent before and also during for our permanent makeup services to keep each client as comfortable as possible! To help minimize any discomfort a tip is to not schedule your appointment around the same time as your menstrual cycle, this may cause increased sensitivity in some clients. Don’t let this fear stop you from having the brows of your dreams!
The total healing time for your new brows is 4-6 weeks total. The most dramatic time of the healing process is the first 10 days after this initial period a lot of the healing is occurring from the inside of our skin, healing we cannot see.. When you leave your appointment your brows will appear bolder and darker, around day 3-4 they will begin to scab, the color will appear lighter and gradually begin to return. The end result will be a color 30-40% lighter than on your appointment day. A perfecting touch-up is required at 6-8 weeks.
Lip blush visible healing process is around 5-7 days and the total healing process is around 4 weeks and final color may take up to 8 weeks to bloom. A perfecting touch up is recommended at 4-6 weeks.
At Camouflaged by Sara we used a peroxide, plant based product with no preservatives. This agent is activated by a light for a total appointment time of around 1 hr and 15 min. The result is a smile 5-10 shades whiter! Please do not brush your teeth 4 hrs before your appointment. You will be asked not to eat 1 hr. after your appointment and also stay away from brought colored food/drinks such as red wine, coffee, tomatoes for up to 24 hrs after your appointment. Some sensitivity may occur for up to 24 hrs after.
